Photo Museum Ireland is hiring an Education Coordinator to work as part of a dynamic team providing essential administrative & promotional support to deliver Photo Museum Ireland’s new education programme. The Education Coordinator will work closely with the museum’s Education Curator & Curatorial Team to ensure the smooth running of our education programme which encompasses talks, evening lectures, workshops, training courses, in-house artist-led projects, community outreach projects, online resources and education toolkits.

Responsibilities and tasks include:

  • Day-to-day administration of the education programme to include scheduling of events.

  • Regular updating and management of our new website to serve as a central destination for our education programme.

  • General administrative work to include social media promotion, management of approved budgets for programmes,

  • Practical hands-on facilitation and support for the Education Curator for the planning of talks, workshops, events, in house and outreach projects. 

  • Source funding, prepare and submit funding applications, reports and evaluations.

  • Prepare for education events to include set up of equipment, preparation of materials, guides and printed resources

  • Assisting with set-up and management of events, talks and workshops - in-house and outreach in schools and communities across Ireland.

  • Carrying out visitor surveys.

  • Work as a tour guide for exhibitions, including our expanded evening and weekend education programmes.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Recent relevant experience with at least 2 years experience working in coordination or administration in photography or cultural environment. 

  • Experience coordinating learning, public engagement, socially engaged and/or participative art programmes. 

  • Experience developing or designing learning resources, both online and onsite, within an arts, museum or heritage organisation

  • Experience managing website content and updates. 

  • Necessary skills include the ability to interact with the public in an engaging manner

  • The capacity to work as part of a team or to be self-directed, as necessary

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, computer literacy, communication, administration, writing and project management skills

  • Ability to work under pressure, and work flexibly and cooperatively as part of a team.


Terms of Employment:

  • This is a part-time fixed term 26 week position based at Photo Museum Ireland from May to October 2024.

  • Hours are 32 hours per week (4 days) from Wednesday - Saturday inclusive.

  • The salary is €35,000 pro-rata.

  • Start date: immediate.
