Visiting Photo Museum Ireland

Getting to us: Photo Museum Ireland is located in the heart of Temple Bar in Dublin 2. It's easy to get to by public transport and there are many restaurants and cafes close by.

Photo Museum Ireland is open Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 5pm, and is always free. Open Mondays by appointment for ongoing education, artists archiving and training. The museum is closed on Bank Holidays.

Inside Photo Museum Ireland is a specialist photography bookshop, exhibition spaces, artist production facilities including a darkroom, printing facilities and scanning suite. The main reception area and bookshop is on the ground floor. There are toilets on the first floor and basement floor. There is a lift and a staircase.

Building Access
At Photo Museum Ireland we believe that photography is for everyone and we are committed to provided an accessible space for our visitors. The physical spaces within the Museum are fully wheelchair accessible. Please note that outside the building is a large square with smooth surfaces and surrounding streets have a cobblestone surface. The entrance to our building has a door which is kept open during opening hours and an inner door which must be pushed open. On the ground floor, visitors will find the Museum Shop and Artist Project Space. On the first and second  level, visitors will find the exhibitions which are accessible to wheelchair users via our lift. If you or your group have any individual requirements, please let us know in advance so that we are able to maximise the enjoyment of your visit.

Lift
The Museum has a lift which provides access for wheelchair users to the first and second level galleries and to the wheelchair accessible toilet on the basement level. Please note that all wheelchairs can fit into the lift. The lift measures 80cm wide, 120cm deep and 200cm high. The max load is 630kg.

Guide Dogs
Guide dogs are permitted to exhibitions, please advise our Museum staff if you intend to attend with a guide dog. Water can be made available for guide dogs.

Toilets
The Museum has toilet facilities on the first floor and a wheelchair accessible toilet on the basement floor. The basement floor toilet is accessed via the lift. You will need a staff member to provide access to the basement floor. We do not have baby changing facilities currently but we are working on it.

Getting to Photo Museum Ireland
Photo Museum Ireland is located in the heart of Temple Bar, in Meeting House Square, which sits between Dame Street, at the South Great George’s Street junction, and the Quays, at the Millennium Bridge.

Car
The Fleet Street (Temple Bar) Car Park is located just off Westmoreland Street. As soon as you enter Westmoreland Street turn left for Fleet Street and the car park is on the left (opposite The Morgan Hotel).

To get from the car park to Photo Museum Ireland, walk straight down Fleet Street, through Temple Bar Square and East Essex Street. Then take a left turn onto Eustace Street about halfway up the street, turn right into Meeting House Square. Photo Museum is located on the left.

Luas
Luas Red Line
The Luas Red Line runs from Tallaght to The Point and from Saggart to Connolly. Take Luas to Jervis Luas Stop. Walk towards the River Liffey through the Italian Quarter and cross the Millennium Bridge. You are now at the end of Eustace Street. Continue up Eustace Street and about halfway up the street, turn right into Meeting House Square. Photo Museum is located on the left.

Luas Green Line
The Luas Green Line runs from Brides Glen to St. Stephen's Green. Take Luas to St. Stephen’s Green Luas Stop and walk down Grafton Street. Take the left turn just after Brown Thomas onto Wicklow Street and walk to South Great George’s Street. Turn right and walk to Dame Street. Cross the road and continue down Eustace Street. Halfway down the street, turn left into Meeting House Square. Photo Museum Ireland is located on the left.

Bus
Take any bus to Dame Street or College Green. Walk along Dame Street to the junction with South Great Georges Street and turn down Eustace Street towards the River Liffey. Halfway down the street, turn left into Meeting House Square. Photo Museum Ireland is located on the left.

Dame Street is serviced by the following Dublin Bus services: 15E, 15F, 49, 49A, 50, 51, 51B, 51C, 54A, 56A, 65, 65B, 68, 69, 69X, 77, 77A, 77X, 78, 78A, 79, 79A, 121, 123, 150, 151.

College Green is serviced by the following Dublin Bus services: 16, 16A, 16C, 19, 19A, 19C, 49, 49A, 51B, 51C, 54A, 65, 65B, 83, 121, 122, 123, 150, 151.

Dart
Get out at Tara Street Dart Station and walk along the Quays past O'Connell Bridge, turning left when you reach the Millennium Bridge onto Eustace Street. Continue up Eustace Street and about halfway up the street, turn right into Meeting House Square. Photo Museum is located on the left.
